The Electric Ant

After a horrible accident Ms. Poole realizes that she’s not a human.  If she’s not human is the rest of the world what it seems?

Synopsis:
Galatea Poole wakes up after a flying-car-crash to find that she has lost a hand. She then finds out that he is in fact an 'electric ant' - an organic robot. She further finds out that what she believes is her subjective reality is in fact being fed from a micro-punched tape in her chest cavity. She explores with this tape, affecting her reality. She damages the tape, with a major effect on his reality, and on everyone else’s.

Story Rights:  The story “Electric Ant” is still owned by the Philip K. Dick Trust.  I did have a brief conversation with two of Philip K. Dicks daughters and they had mentioned there were no plans to have “Electric Ant” shot as a film.  That said, there are currently no ownership rights for Nitrate Films.  However, because this is a student project we will move forward with the understanding that this may never reach a larger release venue until the film is approved by the Philip K. Dick Trust.

Dick said of the story:
"Again the theme: How much of what we call 'reality' is actually out there or rather within our own head? The ending of this story has always frightened me ... the image of the rushing wind, the sound of emptiness. As if the character hears the final fate of the world itself."
